Sometimes, conversations/threads have a useful life that extends beyond either the presently limited lifetime for comments stimulated by a particular article, or the context of the article that spawned them.  While each author has control over the content and lifetime of the comment sections of their own articles/'blogs, we (typically, and rightfully) do not have such power over the comment sections of other authors.

So, I am creating this 'blog forum for the continuation of any such useful conversations/threads that I, in my sole judgement, deem appropriate.

While I will invite those with whom I am having such useful conversations here, others may also participate, so long as they are respectful, and contribute positively to the conversations/threads.  This does include the ability of all parties to respectfully question any statements of (supposed) "fact", and other assertions.

Additionally, if people wish to post questions here, to start new conversations/threads, that don't seem to fit anywhere else on this site (anywhere on Science 2.0), that is permitted, but totally subject to my sole determination of appropriateness.  Furthermore, while my interests are broad, though particularly centered about the "hard" sciences, I reserve the right to exclude conversations that are too far outside my interests and expertise.  (This is simply a matter of manageability.  I simply do not have the time to "police" conversations/threads that are not within my interests/expertise.  I may even find those within such to take too much of my limited time, so we shall see...)

I do require that any posters here must be respectful of one-another!  I also require that messages be placed within proper context:  Replies must use the "Reply to This ≫" link on the message they are a reply to, in order to preserve the threaded structure of the conversations; and comments must be relevant to the comment to which the are in reply to.

I reserve the right to modify or delete any comments/messages that do not adhere to these rules.  I also reserve the right to modify the rules as I, in my sole judgment, find necessary.  (I will modify this 'blog post to reflect any such changes I do find necessary, but such modifications need have no warning prior to implementation.)

SPAM, even if not caught by the site's SPAM filters, will not be tolerated!  Warning:  Simply posting a comment pointing to some article on this site or some other may be deemed SPAM, at my sole discretion!

Now, after having expressed the above warnings, I hope, and believe you will find me a fair and gracious host.

I hope this experiment will be worthwhile.
