I apologize for my lack of posting in the past few days. I will resume it very soon... So as a means of apology I thought I would explain what I have been up to this week.
- I have been fully absorbed on Monday and Tuesday with the signing of the Grant Agreement of the AMVA4NewPhysics ITN network. The thing is, while there is a rather relaxed deadline for this set by the European Community (12 August), my network fell in a complicated mix of University closures, vacations of the persons responsible for signing the papers, and bureaucracy of administrative and legal offices in the various nodes. Hence I needed to apply a considerable pressure to converge.
The result of my effort is that the Grant Agreement has been signed by the coordinating node (INFN) and by the European Community; then other beneficiary nodes have a month to sign their accession documents - they have anyway already started to do so. This in turn means that I will soon be broadcasting here the first few openings of Ph.D. positions within the network.
And, by the way, if you are curious, you can give a peek at the preliminary web page of the AMVA4NewPhysics network. Many sub-pages are yet to be written, but there is already a working skeleton and some content (the links on supervisorys, participants, goals, and calls).
- The rest of the week was spent in the preparation of an exam I gave in Frascati (near Rome) yesterday afternoon. This is a public selection of first researchers that INFN launched last September. 250 candidates applied, and 62 were selected for a colloquium. Unfortunately times are hard and there are only three (but maybe up to six) positions available. We'll see how it goes... But you well understand that I needed to pay attention to this more than to other obligations in the last few days!
