Government Funded?  Not Me, Guv'nor! it has only been possible to find one scientist, worldwide, whosupports catastrophic warming&isn't clearly government funded - so says Nick Craig in his blog a-place-to-stand. Ah!  A challenge!  I do so love a challenge!I most definitely do not 'support catastrophic warming' - that would be crazy!  Of course, his statement may refer to people who, having reviewed all of the scientific evidence of which they can avail themselves, support the view that our planet is going through a period of global warming highly likely to lead to…

In Oregon there are two main avenues of habitat improvement: top down and bottom up.  The top down method involves public agencies using public money to restore habitat on public (and sometimes private) lands. The bottom up or grassroots approach is more complex.  Generally if a private individual in Oregon wants to improve habitat in Oregon, they join a Watershed Council. Watershed Councils are wonderful meeting places for people with diverse backgrounds, interests, and philosophies. Watershed Councils also receive funding (public and private) to conduct restoration on private and…

Pollution control: India ranks 123rd IANS, 29 January 2010, 04:02am IST | WASHINGTON: India and China rank 123rd and 121st in pollution control respectively, reflecting the strain rapid economic growth imposes on the environment, according to the 2010 Environmental Performance Index (EPI). However, among the other newly industrialised nations Brazil and Russia rank 62nd and 69th, suggesting that the level of development is just one of many factors affecting pollution control. Iceland leads the world in addressing pollution control and natural resource management challenges, according to…

GMST : Discovering Trends What Is The Average Global Temperature? asks Adam Retchless Adam's question is a good one.  In brief, and very much oversimplified:the global average, or Global Mean Surface Temperature, GMST, is an integration of direct measurements in modern times, or proxy1 data from historic and prehistoric times.  It is calculated by making allowances for localised effects such as the 'urban island'2 effect.  From all of the data that might be used, data sets are selected3 that are the most likely to have been properly and accurately recorded, that are as free…

Climate funds may cool heels of big bosses but can they cool the climate. Global climate change is a man made activity and without peoples participation the restoration of carbon balance is impossible. On one hand the aspirations of hitherto not so developed countries are vying with each other to achieve the developmental process equal to the rich nations which will certainly entail huge pressure on existing resources of the global earth and produce enormous strain on the climate by way of pollutants generated by developmental activities. Once the youth achieves any level of development he…

I recently encountered the following chart as part of an argument that CO2 does not affect global temperatures. It instantly raised my suspicions because the temperature data is just too clean--I can't believe that global temperatures is almost always one of two values, 12 degrees or 22 degrees, and that there is no noise in the measurements. Note that this chart implies that the current temperature is about 12 degrees Celsius. I looked into this phenomenon a little more, and came away satisfied that the above cartoon was basically accurate--the dinosaurs lived on a hotter planet than we do…

Of all the theories of glaciers melting or not melting in 2035 the IPCC may retract its statement. I am no expert on glaciers but have you seen river Ganges beyond Hairdwar  Does it exist more than a small rivulet beyond Kanpur. How many rivers coming out of the Glaciers reach the Ocean without being converted into public drains. Have not all the water bodies including Ramsar sites dried up? The scientist go up in arms to prove that Glaciers are not melting and IPCC may retract its statement but Glaciers are certainly melting, Gangotri  area is widening into open space, rivers dont…

“The Company intends to generate wealth out of the waste lands in sustainable and ethical manner.
