I get quite a lot of press releases, as you can imagine. Dozens or hundreds depending on the day. Most are relevant, like the embargoed stuff from Cell or Nature (we don't get those from AAAS because, get this, they regard us as competitors because many of you are researchers - seriously, one of the idiot interns who run Eurekalert.org actually wrote that in an email to a journalist here, that giving the company access to Eurekalert press releases 2 days before the public would be "insider trading" - I considered writing Allan Leshner asking why he was using our membership money to engage in the trading of securities instead of producing science studies, but then I reconsidered - no one there knows what the '34 Act is or they wouldn't let idiots talk about insider trading in emails and get the SEC investigating them) some are from marketing people who want to know if we'd like to talk to one of their clients about current research, and then some get written about just because they catch my attention.
Seriously, if you expected anything more substantial than what you just read you can stop reading, that's all I got in the way of substance, because the study that made me chuckle, and the point of this post, was this study we got ...
