I am an ex-naturopathic doctor. I've been trained in the ways of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) as currently branded by the rising naturopathic profession in the United States and Canada. I put it all behind me after witnessing pervasive ineptitude and complacency towards misconduct in treating patients with CAM. This is the tragedy of putting medical practices based on ideology ahead of those based on scientific evidence.

I am now a PhD student in evolutionary biology at the University of Kiel. I study the interplay between the composition of mammalian microbiota and the genetics of their host species.
