John & Jean Piety Named SLA Engineering Librarians of the Year

Elsevier's Engineering and Technology Division today congratulated John and Jean Piety on being this year's recipients of the Special Library Association's (SLA) Engineering Division Librarians of the Year Award. Mr. and Mrs. Piety's contributions to the SLA Engineering Division include exceptional performance while holding a variety of positions within SLA.

Jean has been a member of SLA since 1958, thus celebrating her 50th anniversary this year, while John has been a member since 1975. SLA lists Jean as having held Cleveland Chapter positions as Networking Chair, President-Elect & President.

John has served as Bulletin Editor, President-Elect and President of the Cleveland Chapter, Membership Chair, Chair-Elect and Chair of the IT Division of SLA and has served on the Bylaws Committee for the Association.

Sponsored by Elsevier's Engineering and Technology Division, the 14th annual award includes a certificate of achievement and a $1,500 stipend. It was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Piety during the Engineering Division Award's Luncheon at the 40th Annual SLA annual conference in Seattle, WA on June 15th.

Deborah Jordan, Director of Marketing for Elsevier's Engineering and Technology Division, congratulated the winners by stating, "Jean and John Piety are to be congratulated for their commitment to both the SLA and the engineering community."

Presented annually to recognize contributions to the engineering librarian profession, recipients are nominated by their peers and selected via the SLA Engineering Division Awards Committee.
