HIGHLIGHTS OF 2Q09

-- Net consolidated operating revenue was R$1,116 million in 2Q09, 1% less than the same item in 2Q08, largely a reflection of the elimination of Enersul from consolidated results.

-- Consolidated manageable expenditures, excluding depreciation and amortization, posted a decline of 12% against 2Q08, the 6th consecutive quarter of reduction, as a result of cost control at the Group's companies as well as the conclusion of the asset swap operation.

-- EBITDA for the 2Q09 period reached R$344 million, an increase of 6% compared with 2Q08 due to enhanced Group efficiency and distributor tariff readjustments.

-- EBITDA from the distribution business (Bandeirante and Escelsa) amounted to R$187 million in 2Q09, 12% higher in relation to 2Q08, largely reflecting an increase in average tariffs.

-- Conclusion of the divestment of ESC 90 with a positive impact of R$121 million on the 2Q09 result.

-- Net income for 2Q09 amounted to R$213 million.

-- Approval and signature for long-term BNDES and IDB financing for Porto do Pecem S.A (Pecem I); and the issue of R$230 million in promissory notes by Bandeirante.
