A Quest for Truth

A Quest for Truth

Must science be focused on seeking the truth in everything?
I mean, pretty much anything worth reading about science, is an initial theory, with perhaps a few pointers as to the failure of current theories to cover the espoused angle or perspective of the author's ideas
Often, if any idea appeals, people will try to verify the theory....to find the truth in it
Once sufficient tests have been made, comparisons are made, to find the truth in it
Peer reviewers will examine data, methodology, causes of discrepancy, error bars, and plain illogicality, or wrong thinking, to find the truth in it

Scientists feel rightly proud of the traditions and rigour with which they exercise their craft, so as to know, when they publish, there is a real probability that people will find the truth in it.

and yet....

  *  As a society, we have theories of 'law' and 'order', and 'social justice' which fail these tests

  *  We have a ridiculous system of exchange of values and valuables, known as 'money' in 'the economy', which fails these tests

  *  We have notions of 'IQ' and 'brain power', to grade people into importance and status, which fail these tests

  *  We have a system of governance, to enable us to live socially, in groups and organise ourselves for all our benefits, which fails the tests...

  *
We even have a description of where we live, and it's life support systems, which fails the tests

Where we came from, where we're going, what we are here for, why we are here.....all theories failing these tests

Are we doing them wrongly?
Did we miss something important?
Does it matter?

I just keep getting this nagging feeling that something needs to change quite fundamentally, yet there doesn't seem to be enough ooumph! for it to happen

What science can be brought to bear on this conundrum, which could maybe improve things for all humanity?
What is it that we really need, and I don't mean more education/knowledge/power/wealth/possessions/friends/etc?

Can science give the answers to that quest for truth?
