War on Science STOP calling it the God's particle, already. I suffocate in all this God damn religious propaganda these days and have developed a severe allergy against all "God Bless" and "Thank you God"s. Leave at least God out of the Lovely Hadron Collider. For Christ sake! Feel free to believe what ever you want, but leave it out of science. Jesus! May Allah be with you - and me. :-) Oh yeah. I just watched the great but depressing BBC documentary The War on Science. I think reading what physicists really want from LHC might cheer you up. It did me. :-)

Research commissioned by them to mark the inaugural National Glasses Day on Friday September 19th reveals that a quarter of children were sad when they were told that they had to wear specs. Being told 'Johnny Depp wears glasses' did not seem to help so Specsavers has commissioned iconic specs wearer Gok Wan, presenter of C4's "How to Look Good Naked", and anti-bullying charity…

Here's something you probably know. When asked, people say they would choose “good” snack rather than a “bad” one, and they probably mean it, but when the goodies arrive, they may just go ahead and get the bad one. In an article in the September/October 2008 issue of the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, Dutch researchers found that there is a substantial inconsistency between healthful snack choice intentions and actual behavior. Witness the Waffles of Doom. Participants were asked about their intentions among four snacks: an apple, a banana, a candy bar and a molasses waffle.…
