Robert Cooper

I have given up on categories. I did a BA in physics, a PhD in molecular biology, and now a postdoc in a bioengineering department. So call that what you will, I'm interested in using a quantitative approach to understand biology and solve problems. I'm also interested in science, tech, and environmental policy, and the relationships between science and society. I'm particularly interested in clean energy and climate issues.

My thesis work studied how white blood cell-like amoebas stay on target despite their noisy micro-environment. This could eventually help us better understand inflammation. I'm now interested in applying synthetic biology to help create truly sustainable biofuels and other bioproducts.
