Richard Becker

Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of California, Irvine and post-doctoral training at the University of Toronto and the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Interests have focused on emerging health risk science issues, including advanced molecular screening methods in toxicity evaluation and risk assessment, human biomonitoring, sensitive subpopulations, endocrine screening and testing and alternative test methods. I lead the American Chemistry Council's Science and Research Division, which is charged with advancing scientific understanding of the potential impacts of chemicals on human health and the environment and to improve the methods available for assessing potential health risks. I am an appointed member of the Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology within the National Academy of Sciences. In 2015, the Society of Toxicology honored me with the Arnold J. Lehman Award. I am also a member of the Society for Risk Analysis, the International Society for Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology and the American Chemical Society.
