Fox and National Geographic are investigating the allegations
made against Neil DeGrasse Tyson of sexual misconduct
reported on by David G McAfee
. In an AP story, which does not mention the
rape allegation, that she had no idea there were any allegations at all.   If
one uses Google, and sets the search parameters for certain dates one can prove
that MANY MANY SOURCES had written about Tchiya Amet’s allegation.   I will not
use any …. card but it is very very interesting that this only gets coverage
when the right kind of victim arises
.

Of Course They Knew.

Consider what comes up if you Google
“Neil DeGrasse Tyson rape” for everything up to January 1st 2018
.

Consider what comes up if you Google
“Neil DeGrasse Tyson rape” for everything up to January 1st 2017
.

Consider what comes up if you Google
“Neil DeGrasse Tyson rape” for everything up to January 1st 2016
.

Earlier than my story on it, all
that comes up is Tchiya’s own blog
.   Which she tweeted out under the
hashtag #astroSH which took seriously the accusations of the right kind of
victim.   Geoff
Marcy was taken down
.  Even though to his credit he did at least try
to offer a plausible explanation
for the most serious allegations.

IT WAS OUT THERE.  They must known this was a real possibility.
While social media lynchmobs are bad credible investigations are good
I would bet money that the coprorations that put Tyson on TV  took at look at
who the accuser was … and possibly
who were some of the earlier people who wrote about th
is … and decided no
one would care.   Then for four years they were right.

Until Now.

In the end, now that the right victims have come forward,
the world is not ignoring this.  Some form of justice may still be done.   However,
look at how long this was ignored after such big media companies must
reasonably have known something was up.  Tyson allegedly did the deeds, but
society enabled those deeds.

AP demonstrates this by mentioning only the right accusations.
