The 2010 miniseries from the UK, Genius of Britain: The Scientists Who Changed the World ships for Americans May 31st.
I wrote about it in Geniuses Of Britain - The First Five, detailing the confluence of brilliant minds who collaborated and spurred each other on in the 17th century, but the entire series was so terrific I wanted to give it a plug in hopes that more great science history will get produced. It isn't just older history, it also covers the invention of the steam engine through the discovery of DNA and it's narrated by the British luminaries you would expect, Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins and David Attenborough, but also terrific unexpected surprises like vacuum-cleaner guru James Dyson narrating the segment on Robert Boyle and his work with a " pneumatic engine " - a vacuum pump - that would result in Boyle's Law (PV = k, where k is a constant, P is pressure and V is volume).
