With Kenya Embracing GMOs, European Colonialism Erodes A Little More In Africa

There is no truly positive thing about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but at least it exposed European hypocrisy when it comes to science. Experts knew most of their energy was coming from Russia, not domestic solar power, and their "organic" food was also labeled such from the east.

Or from countries forced to use an inefficient process or be blocked out of European stores - all so Europe could compete without paying higher subsidies. Former colonies of Europe were banned from sale unless they obeyed Europe when it came to food.

Yet Africa has seen the light. While once dominated by a rich few who lined their pockets colluding with European politicians, modern officials instead want to feed their own people. Kenya has now joined others in lifting the ban on genetically modified foods, which were put in place thanks to environmentalists in rich countries scaring people who don't understand the science, along with politicians playing the European game.

Scientifically, there is no way that a precision GMO can not be labeled organic while a shotgun mutation approach like mutagenesis is. It would seem arbitrary except the $100 billion industry behind it was making its money selling food derived using mutagenesis while GMOs came later - and just before the same Clinton administration that legitimized homeopathy in the American government legitimized an organic process with dizzying exceptions to keep the money rolling in.

What changed their minds from 10 years ago? Scientific reality. If things are optimal, and only poor people are starving, embracing the food process of wealthy elites can be done, but Kenya is suffering droughts. Ancient processes can't solve that but science can. And Kenya knew it but former Minister for Public Health Beth Mugo was part of the problem, and insisted that fraudulenert studies by Gilles-Eric Seralini claiming science causes cancer in rats had human implications.

Ten years later Kenya recognizes that rats are not little people, even if the result were real it was only exploratory and had no relevance to humans, and that science exists whether someone being bought off by activists claims otherwise.
