flatlineI've generally been supportive of Obama on science, although I realize that some folks have expressed legitimate concerns about Obama and argued that some of his policies are anti-science (e.g. Hank).

In my other incarnation as a stem cell blogger, I recently did a post asking whether Obama is anti-science, and again I was fairly supportive of the guy as were the respondents so far in our poll that asks "Is Obama anti-science?" Part of the equation here is that in my opinion the leadership of the Republican Party and the leading GOP POTUS primary candidates are not exactly friends of science.

However, today's announcement of Obama's 2013 budget has shaken my faith

One of the most troubling aspects is a proposed flat NIH budget after a cut last year, while biomedical inflation is approximately 3.5%.

In my opinion this is extremely shortsighted to flatline the NIH budget.

What do you think about Obama?

Please take our poll here! The respondents so far have been supportive so far as I said, but I'd like to get more scientists from diverse backgrounds to answer the poll. Make your vote count!
