As you might notice, I will be one of the handling editors of the journal. This is a new occupation for me - in the past I have been a reviewer for journals and a member of editorial board, but this time I will be sorting out what to publish, so it is a heavier involvement; if not in terms of time spent on the job, at least in terms of commitment.
The above also might have a consequence for you, as a reader of this blog. If you think you are in a good position to provide us with an overview of a specific physics topic, you might consider contacting me or the other editor. We favor young authors (where by "young" I mean under 40), but that is not a strict rule. Also, multiple authors are possible. I know that the readership of this column is for 50% composed of young physicists, so I am not shooting off target if I advertise the chance to publish on the journal here.

With the current high competition in the scientific publishing market, I am fully aware that this journal will face a hard time at the start. However, I believe there are great chances that Reviews in Physics ends up getting a very good impact factor, given the reputation of the publisher and the scope of the journal.
